Handsome and hard to find, this two-piece plantation desk blends timeless form with everyday function. Built during the Reconstruction era of the 1870s, it reflects a period when American craftsmanship relied on skilled hands, not machines.

Constructed from solid wood—likely a mix including pine—with a rich, warm patina earned over generations. This piece features pegged construction, hand-planed surfaces, turned legs, and a double-door cabinet up top for ledgers, books, or the occasional bottle (we won’t tell). The wide lower drawer and generous work surface make it as practical today as it was 150 years ago.

This is not factory-made furniture. It’s hand-built, peg-joined, and dates to the Reconstruction period following the Civil War. It has wear, it has soul, and it’s a true survivor.
