Seth Thomas “Dana” Mantel Clock (c.1913)

$280.00

Early Seth Thomas mantel clock in beautiful condition.

Description

This Seth Thomas Dana mantel clock dates to 1913 and features its original mahogany case, brass bezel, convex glass, and a clean enamel dial. The serviced 8-day movement runs well and comes complete with the original pendulum and keys.

This is one of Seth Thomas’s early 20th-century “Dana” models, designed during the company’s shift toward cleaner, architectural lines and away from the heavy Victorian look. The case has a warm, even finish with good color, and the clock still carries the quiet, confident presence that made these pieces household staples in the 1910s. The enamel dial is crisp, the numerals are sharp, and the bezel closes cleanly.

Inside, the clock houses the traditional Seth Thomas spring-driven movement used between 1908 and 1917, known for reliability and long service life. The dual mainsprings, hammer, and strike assembly are all original. These movements were hand-finished at the factory in Thomaston, Connecticut, and this example reflects that level of workmanship.

Collectors value the Seth Thomas Dana mantel clock for its clean design and strong survival rate. This one presents especially well, with the proper pendulum, winding keys, and a movement that has been maintained. It’s a good, honest, pre-WWI American timepiece that works well in both antique and modern interiors.

If you enjoy early 1900s clocks that still feel purposeful and well made, this is a strong example from one of America’s most respected clockmakers.
